20 August 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 06- 1457
2.3 , REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, a report will be prepared
presenting the findings of the investigation. The report will include a description of the work
performed and results ofthe sampling and analysis. Conclusions, applicable recommendations, maps
and cross-sections will be included in the report. The report will be in a format acceptable to the
EHD and CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All fieldprocedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Professional Geologist. Procedures for boring advancements, soil sampling, monitoring well
completion, equipment decontamination and sample shipment are outlined below.
3 . 1 . MONITORING WELL PILOT BORING DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLING
Pilot soil borings will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig and 8-inch
diameter hollow-stem augers. Cuttings and rinseate generated during drilling activities will be
containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, and stored on-site in an area
lacking public access . Disposal alternatives will be evaluated based on results of soil and water
analysis.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals, beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg, utilizing a
California split-spoon sampler and stainless steel sleeves. The sampler will be driven by dropping
a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches. The number of blows it takes to collect the samples
will be recorded on boring logs. Upon soil sample retrieval, the middle stainless steal sleeve will be
removed from the sampler. Ends of the sleeve will be immediately covered with Teflon sheets,
sealed with plastic end caps, secured with tape and immediately placed in a chilled container for
transportation under chain of custody to a CDPH-certified laboratory. Each sample sleeve will be
labeled with the boring location, sample depth, sample time, date and sampler's initials .
During sampling activities, sample duplicates will be monitored for the presence of organic vapor
using a photo-ionization detector (PID : Thermo Environmental 580, 10. 0 eV, calibrated to
isobutylene) and will be visually described on boring logs using the Unified Soil Classification
System (USCS) .
All sampling tools and sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water
after washing with a solution of Alconox. All hollow stem augers will be steam-cleaned prior to
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
