TCE is a breakdown product of PCE, so the highest TCE at
MW-8(1400 ug/L)on the Shell site may support Shell's dry cleaners statement. Did the Shell reports show City
sewer flow direction diagrams?
Although PCE wasn't present in groundwater at MW-1 near the waste oil tank seven years(1994) after it was
removed, there is insufficient evidence to rule out the chlorinated solvents leaking from the waste oil tank. The
PCE release may have not reached groundwater immediately and there was waste oil reported in soil above the
water table when MW-1 was installed. The PCE/TCE groundwater pollution could also be the result of a spill in
the automotive shop that migrated through the soil to groundwater and then across El Dorado St.to Shell,or a
release (drain dumping)to a leaking sewer line.
We can discuss it further tomorrow, as I will be in your office for my 2211 N. Wilson Way file review.
Thanks.
Jim Barton
James L. L. Barton P. The
results were as follows:
Well PCE TCE Screen Interval
MW1 460 12 55-70
4/8/2014
