In my
review this morning I could not find any discussion by Ray Kablano regarding the PCE/TCE, but I might have just
missed it. The Shell site across the street at 2320 N. EI Dorado Street attributed the chlorinated compounds to a
former dry cleaner on their site with the former address of 2326 N. EI Dorado Street in the early sixties, but the
Shell site is in the general down-gradient direction. The distribution of the PCE/TCE is a bit odd with the highest
concentration in MW207(720 ppb) being across the street north of the subject site; on the Shell site in subject site
well MW208, 100,ppb PCE was detected.
An earlier sampling event of MW1 (10/3/94)detected no PCE at a detection limit of 0.5ppb.
That's the data as 1 found it. Thoughts?
Nuel
From: Barton,JimOWaterboards fmaiIto:iim.bartonObwaterboards.ca.gov]
Sent: Monday,April 07, 2014 8:49 AM
To: Nuel Henderson [EH]
Cc: Adrienne Eilsaesser[EH]
Subject: RE: Sites to Discuss with Jim Barton in April
Hi Nuel and Adrienne,
I reviewed the groundwater data and it appears acceptable for petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, and
PCBs/Dioxins/Furans; however, the non-petroleum constituents have raised a red flag (chlorinated
solvents)as they may be present in the soil beneath the waste oil tank. I checked GeoTracker and there
are no Site Cleanup cases nearby. I also check the site's Maximum Concentration Report which showed
PCE and TCE were present in groundwater in 2008.
Is there a dry cleaners or other source of the chlorinated solvents nearby?
Thanks.
Jim Barton
James L.
