Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (ITH-g),
benzene, and oxygenates such as tertiary butanol ('IBA) and di-isopropyl ether (RIPE) have
1 been consistently detected in groundwater samples from monitoring well MW-1. Analytical
results of groundwater samples from MW-1 IN April 2004 were 2,700 micrograms per liter
(ug/1) of TPH-g, 57 ug/1 of benzene, 33 ug/1of TBA, and 9.3 ug/1 of DIPE. Low
concentrations of Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and TBA were consistently detected in
MW-3 and MW-4,but TPH-g and benzene were non detect. Analytical results of MW-3
li groundwater samples were 18 ug/1 of MTBE and 5.7 ug/1 of TBA, and 0.75 of MTBE for
MW-4 groundwater samples in April 2004. Historical groundwater low in the area is
approximately 75 feet bsg according to San Joaquin County Flood Control Depth to Water
map for 1993.
MW-1 thru MW-3 are screened from 30 to 50 feet bsg, and MW-4 from 35 to 50 feet bsg.
The vertical and lateral extent of the contamination has not been defined. Submit a work
plan that will define the vertical and lateral extent of the groundwater contamination to
EHD by October 5, 2004. Please contact Jeffrey Wong at (209) 468-0335 if you have any
!I questions.
Donna Heran, REHS,Director-
Environmental Health Department
"j
F _.. v I J
Jeffrey Wong, Senior REHS Margaret gono, REUHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit Supervisor
c: RWQCB, Central Valley Region—James L.
