We no longer offer
NIOSH Method 1550 for TPH-D. I have attached a table that describes the differences between TO-17 and
NIOSH 1550. 1 have also attached our Sorbent Sampling Guide that provides additional information about
collecting a TO- 17 sample.
Parameter TO-17 NIOSH 1550
Analytical Detector Mass Spectrometer - Allows for Flame Ionization Detector —
definitive identification and `Universal ' detector for
quantitation of compounds of hydrocarbons. Unable to provide
concern such as naphthalene in compound specific information or
addition to a TPH result using the evaluate composition of TPH
total ion chromatogram pattern .
Sample preparation Thermal desorption — provides Solvent extraction with carbon
very low analytical reporting limits disulfide.
(typically 100 to 1000x lower than TPH Diesel = 100 ug
solvent extraction techniques. )
Less sample volume is required to
meet screening levels which can
be critical for soil gas applications
TPH Diesel = 1 .0 ug
Naphthalene = 0 .005 ug
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or if you need a formal price quote put
together.
Regards,
Karen P.
