In the work plan, WRM
proposes to collect eight soil gas samples both on- and off-site at approximately five feet below
surface grade (bsg) at locations illustrated in Figure 3 of the work plan.
The EHD conditionally approves the work plan with the following recommendations :
• Omit soil borings SV- 1 , SV-4, and SV-8 due to their distances from the source area(s) ;
• Move the location for boring SV-2 between monitoring well MW-2 and Shop No . 3 , but
outside the former underground storage tank (UST) excavation;
• Move the location for boring SV-3 closer to Shop No. 4;
• Move the location for boring SV-5 to the west side of the main office building;
• Move the location for boring SV-7 to between the shop building and the former diesel
USTs (northeast of monitoring well MW- 1 );
• At least one foot of dry granular bentonite instead of dry bentonite pellets should be
emplaced on top of the sand pack followed by emplacing hydrated bentonite grout to the
surface when constructing the soil vapor points ;
• Include the analysis for motor oil when collecting a soil gas sample near monitoring well
MW-2;
• Collect soil gas samples in Summa canisters for analysis by method TO- 15 , and in
TENAX sorbent tubes for analysis by method TO- 17 ;
i
i
Please rename the five remaining soil borings and resubmit Figure 3 with the revised locations
