41 ,
Advanced
GeoEnvironmental Inc * ,
11 July 2006
AGE-NC Project No . 97-0301
Ms . Vicki McCartney
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue, 3`d Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Revision to Monitoring Well Destruction Work Plan, dated 05 July 2006
PACIFIC PRIDE - SOUTH EL DORADO STREET
3147 South El Dorado Street, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. McCartney:
On behalf of Mr. David Atwater of Van De Pal Enterprises, Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc. (AGE) has prepared
this revision to Monitoring Well Destruction Work Plan, dated 05 July 2006. The work plan was previously
approved by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) by letter on 06 July 2006.
Ground water monitoring well MW-3 had previously been buried by California Tank Lines during asphalt
resurfacing activities. On I I July 2006, AGE exposed MW-3 by entirely digging out the uppermost 2. feet of the
former well location. After exposing the well, it was revealed that the former well box and approximately 1 -foot
of the top of the casing had been removed during the California Tank Lines resurfacing activities. Additionally,
the well casing was pinched at the top and appeared to be entirely backfilledwith dirt.
After exposing MW-3 on I 1 July 2006, AGE met with the SJCEHD to document the condition of the well. After
a brief meeting, AGE and the SJCEHD determined that the integrity of the well had been severely compromised,
and that the well should be abandoned in accordance with the above referenced work plan. However, AGE
inquired from the SJCEHD if well abandonmentprocedures could consist of using 8-inch hollow stem augers
rather than the previously proposed 10-inch hollow stem augers ( Work Plan for Ground Water Monitoring Well
Destruction, dated 05 July 2006); thereafter, the SJCEHD agreed to the usage of 8-inch hollow stem augers.
Therefore, AGE is writing this letter to notify the SJCEHD that 8-inch hollow stem augers will be utilized in the
well destruction of MW-3 . Well abandonment procedures will commence on Friday, 14 July 2006. Ifyou have any
questions. or require further information, please contact me at (209) 467- 1006.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
Timothy J. ellar
Project Geologist
Enclosure
cc: Mr. David Atwater, Van De.
