H. Spill Control Equipment <br /> Spill control equipment is stored at three primary locations shown on Figure 2. <br /> 1. Emergency Procedures and Contacts <br /> o WhattoDo <br /> In the event of a release, company management should be notified immediately following <br /> efforts to stop and contain the spill. Remember to use good judgment if a life-threatening <br /> emergency occurs, call 911first: <br /> Stop the Source- Every effort should be made within the limits of safety to stop the source of <br /> any discharge <br /> Contain the Spill- Once the source has been stopped(or it is determined to be unsafe to stop <br /> the source), containment efforts should begin. Drain covers/mats should be placed on top of <br /> any inlets to prevent offsite migration. Absorbent should be used as needed. <br /> Establish a Spill Perimeter Safety Zolte- Safety cones and/or barricades should be used to <br /> cordon.off the spill area. <br /> Free Product Removal- Once the spill is contained, every effort should be made to recover <br /> any free product. If necessary,call an emergency spill contractor. <br /> o What to Report <br /> All releases of petroleum to the environment(air,water or soil) in excess of 1 gallon must be <br /> reported to SPCC Coordinator according to established procedures. <br /> Any releases in excess of'Reportable Quantities"of hazardous substances, as defined in 40 <br /> CFR 302 or extremely hazardous substances, as defined in 40 CFR 355, must be reported to <br /> the local,state and federal agencies listed in this section. <br /> Releases of visible quantities of hazardous substances (which are defined as the "Reportable <br /> Quantity" of the hazardous substance) which reach or may reach surface waters are <br /> reportable to the National Response Center, and the State/Regional Water Quality Control <br /> Board. <br /> A release to soil that does not threaten surface water does not need to be reported to the <br /> EPA/National Response Center. However, if the release of a petroleum product to soil is <br /> greater than 42 gallons,it must be reported to the California Emergency Services. <br /> - �-t <br />
