ELDORADO SITE CODE: 1088
ST(C3C1j0N, CA
Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EI D) has reviewed your most recent
Quarterly Report, dated July 15, 1992 and prepared by Groundwater Technology, Inc., and has the
following comments:
1) There is great concern over the fact that the Benzene levels in both MW-1 and MW-3
continue to rise each quarter. PHS/EHD concurs with your consultants observation that additional
groundwater monitoring wells will be necessary to establish the lateral extent of groundwater
contamination. This phase of the groundwater investigation should be executed as soon as possible.
Please submit a workplan/proposal to PHS/EI-ID and the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board(CVRWQCB) by 11/31/92.
2) The request to no longer analyze for TPH-as-diesel in the groundwater can not be granted
due to the fact that TPH-D was detected (620 ppm) in the sod, at a depth of 33 feet in S6B. However,
since TPH-as-diesel has not been detected thus far in the groundwater, a reduction in the frequency to
yearly seems a reasonable compromise at this point.
3) it would be extremely helpful if future Quarterly Reports could have all previous
groundwater sample results tabulated into one table. This format provides the viewer with trends in
concentrations of contaminates and aids in comparisons between monitoring wells. Your assistance in
this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding these issues, or the site status in general, please
contact Steven Schneider, Senior RENS, of my staff at (209) 468-3441.
Jogi Khann M.D., M.F.H.
Health - .r
w y
A.
