The discharge of most boilers contain high minerals concentrations and
heavy metal salts. Some of the contaminates are unlawful to discharge to the
surface under Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)40 and Title 22 of the California
Administration Code(CAC).
Because of the physical evidence identified during the site inspection in early
January 1994, water and soil &Vnples were collected for analysis under criteria
established in EPA sampag method 504 (p series)and analyzed in compliance with
Title 22 standards for priority pollutant metals and T.T.L.C. CAM metals.
The completed analysis of both water and soil samples collected from the outfall
area indicates that the maximum concentrate levels hM=h= exceeded for the
analytes reported by the methods employed (Appendix B).
Compressor C=datum Slowdown Area (Undisturbed Sample)
m Located to the east side of the structure adjacent to the 1,044 KVA power sub-
station is the area were the Gardner-Denver air compressor is installed (Figure 3).
The compressor's condensate blowdown line discharges to the surface. This too is
- considered to be an unlawful discharge to the surface. Compressor discharge
usually contain heavy metals from the oil it pumps and the body of the pump itself,
A single soil sample was col.lecied and submitted to the Laboratory for the same
metals analysis as discussed in the flood control outfall segment of this report. All
analytes detected were well h&w the maximum concentration levels established by
Title 22 of CAC (Appendix B).
Pzsticides Us a(Grab Sample)
During the site inspection conducted in early January 1990 a concern about
pesticide usage at this facility was noted on the writers part._ T
