Pilot Testing Report and Conceptual Corrective Action Plan July 15, 1994
Manna Pro, 4004 South EI Dorado, Stockton, CA 13
' 5 1 2 Field Activities
Aquifer test activities began with the water table depression pump installation in well EW-1 and the
' connection to a temporary water storage tank A Grundfos RediFle submersible pump was
Positioned in well EW-1 so that a maximum drawdown could be provided for the pumping test
An in situ Hermit SE2000 data logger was connected to four PTX161 pressure transducers rated for
10-pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure The Hermit SE2000 is a programmable data retrieving
and storage device able to read and record pressure measurements The data logger translates the
pressure into feet of groundwater head It can be programmed to record data at the desired interval
using its logarithmic and/or linear tracking functions At the Manna Pro facility, the logger was
programmed to sample the pressure transducers at a logarithmic frequency for the first 10 minutes
' of the test followed by a 2-minute frequency throughout the 3-day pumping test The pressure
transducers were placed in wells OB-1, 06-2, OB-3, and EW-1
' Prior to pumping, the static water level trend was monitored from October 15 through October 18,
1993 No significant fluctuations (greater than 0 08 ft) were observed in the static water table before
the test started The pumping test started at 10 34 a m on October 19, 1993 The flow was
maintained at a constant rate of 1 3 gpm during the pumping test Flow rates were measured by
' two methods 1) by reading a mechanical flow meter/totalizer placed in-line from the pumping well
to the storage tank, and 2) by timing the filling of a known volume container The site was visited
daily during the test to ensure that the pumping flow rate remained constant and that the data
logger continued to retrieve drawdown data The pumping was terminated at 1 30 p m on
October 22, 1993, following review of drawdown curves on a field computer, indicating that sufficient
data had been acquired
' Water samples were collected for laboratory analysis from well EW-1 during and after the 72-hour
pumping test These samples were collected in 40-milliliter volatile organic analysis vials and 1-liter
' glass jars and shipped overnight to GTEL Environmental Laboratories (GTEL) under a chain-of-
custody protocol The water samples were collected for analysis of BTEX, TPH-G and TPH-D by
' Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 5030/8020/8015 The hydrocarbon analyses were
conducted to determine the concentration of hydrocarbons in well EW-1 at the beginning and end of
the pumping test
•
' 2819RO34 070
GROUNDWATER
' TECHNOLOGY, INC
