In conjunction with this <br /> investigation, ARCO has requested RESNA, as their agent, to install two offsite ground- <br /> water monitoring wells. The proposed well locations is shown on Plate 1. <br /> I We have enclosed the following items: ( 1) Encroachment permit form, (2) a revocable <br /> permit application, (3) a check for $410 for processing the revocable permit and <br /> encroachment permit, (4) ARCO's indemnification letter, (5) ARCO's Performance Bond <br /> and (6) a Schematic Ground-Water Monitoring Well Design (Plate 2) showing the <br /> construction of a typical ground-water monitoring well installed by RESNA for projects <br /> throughout California. <br /> The monitoring wells will be drilled using a truckmounted drill rig with 8-inch-diameter <br /> augers to approximately 15 feet into groundwater or 75 feet below grade. A 2-inch <br /> diameter polyvinyl chloride casing will be installed in the borings; the well annulus will be <br /> j constructed in accordance with State and local ground-water monitoring well guidelines. <br /> Well construction is shown on Plate 2. <br /> The well installation will take approximately 12 hours to drill, and the well will take <br /> approximately 2 hours to install. Two subcontractor personnel will operate the drill rig, and <br /> a geologist from RESNA will be present at the site during drilling.
