Per the Judgment,removal must be completed by April 15,2002.
Background
During several months in 1998 and 1999, uncured tile material and broken concrete roof tiles were taken from the
MonierLifetile French Camp facility located in French Camp, California to the Pellegri Farm (Figure 1). The Site
property owner, Mr. Richard Pellegri,has used the broken concrete roof riles as road base along farm access roads,
and the uncured tile material as fill to create a relatively flat pad approximately 1.5 feet to 4 feet thick covering
approximately 1.8 acres on pastureland. The pad was placed above native grade level over the existing Site soil that
appears to be a mixture of native soils and fill material.
As part of the referenced judgment,MonierLifetile is responsible for removing the pad of waste raw materials from
the area denoted on the map. MonierLifedle intends to remove impacted materials below the pad attributable to
contact with the reject tile. The stockpiled material, noted on the same Exhibit, have already been removed from
the site and disposed in a Class II Landfill.
Limited Site Investigation
In order to assess any potential impacts from the material,MonierLifetile had a groundwater and soil investigation
performed of the site. The investigation report has not yet been finalized but data has been reviewed. The
investigation encompassed both a former stockpile on the area as well as the pad when performed. The
investigation regarding the pad consisted of:
• Collecting and analyzing samples of uncured materials contained within the pad and the soil underlying
the pad (trenches Tl through T5, and T12, and hand borings Hl through H5) (Figure 2);
• Collecting and analyzing soil from selected locations for total metals,petroleum hydrocarbons, and
physical soil properties to assess ambient Site conditions at the time of sampling;
• Installing and developing five groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-5) in the area of the
pad(Figure 3);and
