0 9 <br /> ❑ Unusual odors are detected. <br /> ❑ Photoionization detection (PID) or flame ionization detection (FID) meter readings <br /> exceed background in the work area. <br /> ❑ Symptoms of possible exposure occur in any individual while on the job (symptoms <br /> include eye,throat, or skin irritation; nausea, dizziness, light-headedness, blurred vision, <br /> muscular incoordination, and vomiting). <br /> Upon suspending work, the SSO will direct the field personnel under BC control to move to a <br /> safe place identified by the SSO and shall advise personnel not under BC control to do the same. <br /> The SSO shall then inform the PM and CHSO of the reasons why work was suspended and <br /> wait for instructions. <br /> MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Medical surveillance is conducted as a routine program for BC field staff, which meets the <br /> requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 (f). There will not be any special medical tests or <br /> examinations required for staff involved in this project. Subcontractor employees working on <br /> site must also have current medical certifications. <br /> SITE CONTROL MEASURES <br /> During drilling, formal work zones will be established (exclusion area, support area, <br /> decontamination area) in the immediate vicinity of the drilling rig depending on its location, as <br /> follows: <br /> Exclusion zone: 10-foot-diameter circle around borehole <br /> Decontamination area: 15-foot-diameter circle around borehole (exclusion zone plus 5 feet) <br /> Support area: 30-foot-diameter circle around borehole <br /> Decontamination of the sampling equipment by steam cleaning will take place at a designated <br /> station. <br /> Any break or eating shall be located away from the exclusion and decontamination zones and <br /> preferably upwind. Eating or drinking will not be allowed in the exclusion or decontamination <br /> zones. The buddy system will be used during all field activities. If a situation arises where the <br /> buddy system cannot be used, constant visual contact will be maintained. Communication <br /> between field team members will consist of verbal communications. <br /> The nearest medical assistance is Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, located at 1420 North <br /> Tracy Boulevard, Tracy, California.
