' k'■ KLEINEELDER
Groundwater depth and flow direction may be influenced by local pumping, rainfall, and
irrigation patterns. Evaluation of such factors is beyond the scope of this assessment. Variations
of this sort may lead to localized groundwater flow that may go in virtually any direction. With
the nearby groundwater extraction at Sharpe Army Depot, local irrigation well pumping and
recharge at California Natural Products (CNP) and other nearby properties, groundwater flow
beneath CNP has shown other flow directions. Based on the recent Nolte survey, and water level
measurements made by CNP and Kleinfelder personnel the following table of local groundwater
elevation and flow conditions beneath the CNP properties was compiled.
' Table 2
Groundwater Elevation and Flow Data
California Natural Products Facility
' Lathrop, California
Date Plant Wells' Recharge Area Plant Wells' Recharge Area Groundwater
& Groundwater Wells' Depth to Wells' Depth to Flow Direction
Measurements Elevations Groundwater Groundwater Groundwater
By (feet msl) Elevations (feet bgs) (feet bgs)
' (feet msl)
4/8/01 8.54 to 8.70 9.14 to 10.08 11.12 to 11.49 12.20 to 13.34 Plant Area: East-
(CNP) Southeast
' Recharge Area:
East-Northeast
4/22/01 8.51 to 8.65 9.28 to 9.87 11.15 to 11.53 12.06 to 12.58 Plant Area: East-
(CNP) Southeast
' Recharge Area:
Can not be
determined
' 4/29/01 8.35 to 8.60 9.07 to 10.65 11.27 to 11.57 12.27 to 12.69 Plant Area: East-
(CNP) Southeast
Recharge Area:
Northeast
' 5/9/01 xxxx xxx xxxx xxxxx Plant Area:xxxx
(Kleinfelder) Recharge Area:
xxxxxx
msl mean sea level
bgs below ground surface
CNP California Natural Products
According to a recent file review of Sharpe Army Depot records on file with the California State
Department of Toxic Substances Control, Sharpe has eight extraction wells for withdrawl of the
' shallow (A-Zone) water within approximately 1200 feet of the northeast corner of the CNP plant.
Those wells are EWA1, EWA3, EWA5, EWA6, EWA7, EWA8, EWA9, and EWA10.
Extraction of groundwater to that magnitude, is undoubtedly impacting shallow groundwater
' flow, and further explains the variance between the flow directions in Tables 1 and 2.
20-4587-0IMP I/2011 P 128 Page 4 of 12
Copyright 2001,Kleinfelder, Inc.
