' KLEINFELDER
' 5 SCOPE OF WORK
5.1. GENERAL APPROACH
Based on the site-specific groundwater flow data collected by CNP and Kleinfelder personnel a
fourth monitoring well would be installed in the existing recharge area. That well would be
advanced just west of McKinnley Way and east of monitoring well W-2. This will allow for a
presumed downgradient well located northeast of the recharge area (rapid infiltration area). For
further details on the proposed monitoring well location, please to Plates 1 and 2.
Although the regional groundwater gradient in the proposed application area(northwest corner of
' Louise Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad) is to the west and northwest, mounding of the
shallow groundwater will likely occur in the area during future discharges. Therefore,
Kleinfelder proposes installing three monitoring wells on that property to ascertain groundwater
' gradient and flow direction as well as shallow groundwater quality. Once the three wells are
installed on the property and the flow direction is evaluated, one or more additional monitoring
wells may become necessary. For further details on the proposed monitoring well locations,
please refer to Plate 1.
' 5.2. TASK E01 - PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES
' The San Joaquin County Public Health Services Department Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) requires approval of a workplan, application for a boring permit, and payment of a
boring permit application fee prior to conducting assessment activities. It is assumed that this
t workplan will suffice to obtain approval from the PHS/EHD. Kleinfelder will prepare drilling
permit applications for submittal to PHS/EHD along with the required fees. The permits and
' workplan must be approved prior to drilling activities and sampling. PHS/EHD usually requires
up to approximately two weeks to issue the permits.
Additionally, PHS/EHD will charge California Natural Products (CNP) the initial 3-hour
minimum and any additional oversight charges above the permit fees to be submitted by
Kleinfelder. These fees will be billed directly to CNP by the PHS/EHD. Kleinfelder will
forward the appropriate "billing and compliance acknowledgement forms" to CNP for signature.
Signed originals of the forms and the initial 3 hour oversight fees must be submitted to
PHS/EHD as part of the permit process.
Kleinfelder will also contact Underground Service Alert 48 hours prior to conducting field work
to notify local utilities of our proposed subsurface assessment. Kleinfelder will additionally
prepare a health and safety plan prior to the actual field assessment.
20-4587-01.wP 1/201 1 P 128 Page G of 12
Copyright 2001, Kleinfelder, Inc.
