h9 KLEINFELDER
ensure safety and pipe integrity. Kleinfelder also recommends stockpiling apparent
clean soil related to sloping operations followed by collecting 4-point composite soil
samples of this material. Kleinfelder recommends collecting a single 4-point composite
sample for each 2,000 cubic yards of this material. If this material is clean, Kleinfelder
recommends using this material for backfill operations. Kleinfelder proposes backfilling
to 90% compaction using clean fill material. However, the backfill subcontractor will be
responsible for backfilling with acceptable material at compaction rates suitable for the
proposed land use and any PG&E or Chevron requirements.
Task 2 — HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT (HRA)
A human health screening evaluation will be conducted to estimate the potential chronic
health hazard from potential contamination that remains at the site.
The health risk assessment will evaluate the following:
• Construction of a conceptual model for the property identifying receptor groups,
exposure media, and exposure pathways.
• Identification of chemicals of potential concern (COPC) and their physical
constants and concentrations to evaluate industrial/commercial use exposure.
Description of human toxicity information of the specific COPC, and
• A risk characterization summary of the exposure assessment and toxicity
information for each chemical and exposure pathway.
Please note depending on specific proposed building locations and preliminary HRA
findings, additional evaluation of soil vapor intrusion may be warranted based on an
additional soil vapor assessment after conclusion of excavation activities.
TASK 3 — MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION ACTIVITIES
Permitting and Pre-Field Activities
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) requires completion of a
well permit, and payment fees of prior to installation of monitoring wells. Kleinfelder will
' prepare drilling permit applications for submittal to EHD along with the required initial
fees. The permits must be approved prior to drilling activities and sampling. EHD
usually requires up to approximately two weeks to issue the permits. This workplan
should be submitted by the client to EHD under a separate cover letter. EHD may bill
the Client directly for oversight time on the project.
Kleinfelder will visit the site to mark the assessment area for Underground Service Alert
at least 48 hours prior to conducting the field work. Kleinfelder will also notify Chevron
Pipeline Company and PG&E at least 72 hours prior to conducting field work
44843.T04/STO5R1333/DH:Iv Page 10 of 17
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
