A representative water sample was collected from the well using a
WEGE 1 inch diameter, sterilized bailer. The water samples
collected were stored in labeled 1 liter "Boston Rounds" and 40
milliliter VOA vials. These water samples were placed into an
insulated cooler with ice and submitted in the clients behalf
"Chain of custody hand delivered" to McLaren Analytical
Laboratories for chemical analyses.
3.0 RESMTS
3.1 PRODUCT AM RSCOVERX
During the initial site assessment and during subsequent site
visits floating product was observed in monitor wells HW-1 and MW-
3. Product thickness in MW-1 has ranged from 0.021 to 1.261 and
from 0.64 to 1.661 in Y.W-3. The recovered gasoline is amber
yellow and appears to be fresh (no apparent degradation) .
Involved regulatory agencies suggested that product recovery
commence before an aquifer pump test be performed.
Temporary submersible pumFj were installed into monitor wells MW-1
and MW-3 for product recovery on October 10, 1969. All "plumbing"
(pump lines, electrical lines, etc. ,) necessary for opera':ing the
pumps are contained in underground schedule 40 PVC conduit. The
product is pumped via this "plumbing" network to an above ground
1000 gallon ConVault tank. This Convault tank was placed within
the secured compound and has been approved by the Stockton City
Fire Dept. An automatic shut off switch has been installed to
prevent the Convault from over spilling if the tank becomes nearly
1 full. Approximately 40 gallons of gasoline has been recovered to
date and a site visit conduct by WEGE personnel on October 28,
1989 indicated that NW-1 and MW-3 have been depleted of gasoline
product.
3.2 SITE COWDITIONS
SOIL:
3 Soil samples were collected in monitor wells MW-4 thru MW-9 at 20,
30, 45, 50 and 65 feet below the surface. In order to construct a
complete soil profile (lithology, concentrations, etc.,) , monitor
well MW-10 soil sampling commenced at 20 feet below the surface
and continued at 5 foot intervals to the base of the boring at 65
feet below the surface.
Soil Contamination in monitor wells MW-4 thru HW-8 are below
reporting limits for TPS, BTEX and EDB analyses. Minimal BTEX
concentrations exists at 30 and 45 feet below the surface in
monitor well HW-9. Significant BTEX concentrations exist in
monitor well HW-10 at 40, 45, and 50 feet below the surface,
however, these concentrations reduce rapidly at 55, and 60 feet
below the surface. EDB concentrations are below reporting limits
for all monitor wells. Complete chemical results for soil
analyses are presented in TABLE 2 of this report.
