the pilot test will be terminated. At the start up of the test,
influent samples will be obtained from monitor wells P1 , P3 and EX
and an effluent sample well be obtained from the exhaust of the
blower and analyzed for total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as
gasoline and diesel along with Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and
Xylenes (BTEX) using DHS headspace method with FID chromatograph
Western Geo-Engineers (WEGE) . Once breakthrough is indicated by
PID readings, influent samples will be obtained from the vapor
extraction wells, the influent to the blower and the effluent from
the charcoal tub scrubs and anlayzed for TPH and BTEX by the WEGE
lab. Also an effluent sample will be obtained from the charcoal
tub scrub exhaust prior to shutting the system off and
disconnecting it from the wells ( for analysis by Chemtech
Laboratories ) . This sample will be analyzed using EPA modified
x 8015 and 602 for TPH and BTEX respectively. Throughout the test
vacuum readings will be obtained from the ground water monitoring
wells, to help establish the radius of influence of the vapor
extraction system.
This source test will help evaluate the amount of fuel range
hydrocarbons available and the suppliemental fuel needed to
achieve incineration using the Hirtz Incenerator for emissions
control during ground water and soil remediation for this site,
see Figures 4A manifold for vapor extraction system and 4B
schemtaic for vapor extraction system.
• Start up date for Pilot Test January 8 , 1991
Monitoring-hand held PID Alternate Days
Duration (maximum) 1 week or breakthrough
If you have any questions, please call (916) 662-4541 .
Sincerely yours ,
George L.
