SP12 represents an estimated 10 yards of soil, noted by W.A. Craig Inc. personnel, that
. contain gasoline type odors, therefore it was covered r
On March 29, 2001, an estimated 200 additional yards of soil was generated from
expanding the UST area south (SP13 through SP 17). This soil was sampled by a
Western Geo-Engineers sample technician working directly under Califonua Registered
Geologist #3037.
SAMPLE RESULTS
The enclosed table contains the soil sample results documentation sampling of the
excavated soil produced from product dispensing system reinoval/station remodeling
All analytes tested for, from samples SP (5-7), SP (8-11), SP 12 and SP (13-17) were
below laboratory lower detection. Each sample was collected in a 1 1/2-inch by 6-inch
clean stainless steel sleeve. Immediately after obtaining the soil sample, it was field
screened with a PID (photo-ionizing detector) containing a 10.6 ev bulb, for the presence
of volatile organic compounds, gasoline ranges. The sample sleeve was then sealed with
teflon sheets and plastic end caps to prevent the loss of VOC's (volatile organic
compounds) The steel sleeve was then labeled with site ID, sample ID, date and time
sampled, name of sampler, and laboratory analysts needed Once labeled, the sample was
placed into a ziplock baggy, sealed and placed into an ice chest containing ice to keep the
sample cool until delivery to the analytical laboratory
A Chain of Custody (CoW) was completed documenting the site ID, sample ID's, date
and time samples were obtained the laboratory analysis needed, and the name of the
sampler. The Co#C follows the samples and documents the whom and when of
possession transfer of the samples, from collection through final analysis, by California
Certified Laboratorys, North State Environmental ELAP Certificate No 1753, or Kiff
Analytical LLC ELAP Certificate No 2236 see Appendix A
SAMPLE ANALYSIS
The three UST's contained unleaded gasoline. San Joaquin County Health and the State
of California require that the soil samples be analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPHg), Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylenes and the fuel
oxygenants (Ethanol, MTBE, TBA, DIPS, ETBE and TAME) using EPA methods
826013.
SOIL DISPOSITION
It is Western Geo-Engineers understanding that Wickland Property was responsible for
the disposition of contaminated soils only. Soils that were found to be below laboratory
lower detection limits for gasoline range hydrocarbons are not the responsibility of
Wickland Properties
2
