desert petroleum inc.
RECEIVED
John Rutherford ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Director PIRM 1*slOgRY1Q69
Environmental Affairs
September 30, 1992
Linda Turkatte
County of San Joaquin
Public Health Services
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: 950 W. Eleventh Street
Tracy, California
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
This is to inform you that the status of Desert Petroleum, Inc.
regarding their bankruptcy filing has not changed from our last
communication.
At this time Desert ' s funds remain limited and controlled by
the Bankruptcy Court. We are unable to supply monitoring and
sampling reports at this time. We will, however, try to make
this a priority when funds are available, and expect to be able
to produce sampling within the last quarter of this year.
The activity at this site has been at a standstill from the time
of the Chapter 11 filing in February. It is our intent to do
everything possible to remain eligible for the State Underground
Storage Tank Cleanup Fund.
With this in mind, we request that the required sampling
frequency be changed from quarterly to semiannually. The
sampling round which will be scheduled prior to this year end
would serve as the first semiannual sampling. With approval we
will schedule and plan for this time frame.
Very truly yours,
John D. Rutherford
JDR:jc
cc: W.E. Thompson
G.W.
