During our meeting we went over a "fax" document that
you had sent to Laura Cotulla earlier the same day, concerning
this site.
A meeting concerning the above `mentioned site took place on May
27, 1988 between Diane`.Hanson and myself. Your "fax" document was
presented for review and for resubmittal to Peter Allen of Walton
Engineering and John Rutherford of Desert Petroleum. In your
cover letter you stated "I can not and did not approve the
installation of new gas tanks in a contaminated ground water pit'!,.
Either I misunderstood your comments during our phone conversation
on the afternoon of May 20, 1988 or you didn't take notes on what
was said. My notes read as follows: You, Gordon Boggs, didn't
have enough info. to give any type of response. Main concern was
were soil samples were taken and if other soil samples were taken
during boring of monitor wells.
I informed you that the native soil taken at the base of
excavation 14' was taken prior to water entry, that the 15'-17'
depth samples taken during boring of the monitor wells were being
analyzed. That all sampleing on the tank pull/excavation was
supervised by San Joaquin County Health personnel .
I could not remember his name at that time tit is Jamie Fauila) .
He, Jamie, felt at the time that the one native soil was enough
and to concentrate on the water that was entering the excavation.
The excavation was horizontally and vertically in excess of the
tanks immediate area.
,w
