Former Discovery Chevr•, January 27, 1998
Tracy. California Additional ub urface Investigation Work Plan I
Task 2
I
Collect laboratory soil samples at a minimum of five foot intervals at the locations shown on ii
Figure 2 utilizing GeoProbe sampling equipment. The soil samples shall be collected until
field screening with a portable organic vapor meter (OVM) indicates two consecutive f
sampling intervals where no petroleum hydrocarbons are present. The sampling locations f
have been selected in areas that should provide lateral and vertical definition of
hydrocarbon-impacted soil. The low clearance heights inside the service bays and the
concrete floors, should be accessible with a GeoProbe drilling rig. The GeoProbe has the
i
advantage of drilling through concrete either vertically or at angles up to 30 degrees off
vertical, and it generates no soil cuttings.
f
Task 3
Collect laboratory groundwater samples from three Hydropunch"m locations (HP, Figure 2).
The HP locations have been selected in areas that should complete the definition of the ,.
extent of the groundwater plume (see historical Horizon Figure 2 - Site/Groundwater I
Contour Map and Gettler-Ryan Inc. Figure 3 - Potentiometric Map in Appendix Q.
li
Task 4
I
Deliver the soil and groundwater samples under Chain-of-Custody (COC) Documentation to
a State-certified hazardous waste testing laboratory for analysis. Selected soil and the
groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHg and BTEX using Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Methods 8015/8020 or 602. Based on the data previously collected it
II
appears that the oxygenated fuel additive compounds methanol, ethanol, tertiary butanol,
MTBE, di-isopropyl ether DIPE ethyl tertiary butyl ether ETBE and tertiary( ), Y ' tY ( ), az'Y amYl
methyl ether (TAME) are not released at this site and therefore not warranted for
investigation.
I
3001-13.wp 5 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
