The total permitted site
capacity is 102 million cubic yards, and remaining capacity (as of 7/31/08) was
approximately 89.7 million cubic yards. The active life of the facility is estimated to
allow disposal until the year 2058,based on current disposal rates and capacities.
(Foothill Sanitary Landfill, First Semester 2008 Groundwater and Surface Water
Monitoring Report, Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, July 31, 2008).
r
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill
The North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill (NCRCSL) is a single solid
waste management unit, designated Class III, accepting non-hazardous municipal solid
waste and inert waste, as defined in§20164 of Title 27. It is located at 17900 East Harney
Lane, in unincorporated County area about nine miles east of the City of Lodi and
approximately 12 miles northeast of Stockton. As of March 26,2008, 15.6
r p Y
million cubic yards of capacity remains. The landfill is expected to close in 2032,based
I on current disposal rates and current capacity. (North County Recycling Center and
Sanitary Landfill, First Semester 2008 Groundwater And Surface Water Monitoring
Report,Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure,July 31, 2008).
The NCRCSL has been proposed for a vertical expansion that would increase total site
capacity to 43.6 million cubic yards. Details of the proposed expansion are shown on
Table V-1. This proposed expansion is in the permitting process but, as of January 2009,
has not been approved, Although further expansion(beyond that currently proposed
may be possible, it is not considered feasible at this time (John Carroll, email
communication,January 14,2009)
I
