I
The following mitigation measures will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measures (Impact E.1):
(a) Ifprehistoric archaeological resources are discovered during excavation and
construction of the proposed project, the project sponsor shall suspend all work in the
immediate vicinity of the find pending site investigation by a qualified archaeologist or
cultural resources consultant to assess the materials and determine their significance.
(b) The project sponsor shall allow only a qualified archaeologist or cultural resources
consultant to collect any prehistoric cultural resources discovered on the site.
(c)Ifprehistoric archaeological deposits that include human remains are discovered by
the project sponsor or any construction contractors during development of the project
corridor, the project sponsor shall notify the County Coroner immediately. If the
remains are found to be Native American, the Native American Heritage Commission
must be notified within 24 hours.
(d) If avoidance of important prehistoric archaeological resources would not be feasible,
the project sponsor shall prepare an excavation plan in coordination with a qualified
archaeologist or cultural resources consultant.
Facts in Support o
i PP f the Finding.
The potential for potential cultural deposits is discussed in Section II1.E of the EIR. The project
area has deep alluvial deposits, and there is a moderate to high possibility of subsurface
archaeological deposits,
Appropriate implementationlementation of the measures above would mitigate this
impact to a less-than-significant level.
6. Ve etation and Wildlife
a.Filling of Creek and Wetlands
Potential Significant Impact(F.1):
Implementation of the proposed project would fill and relocate approximately 4.5 acres of the
North Branch of the South Fork of Little Johns Creek, including 2.895 acres of U.S Army Corps
of Engineers-verified jurisdictional wetlands within the 4.5-acre channel.
Finding:
Based upon the analysis in the EIR,the wetland mitigation and restoration measures in the
Mitigation Measure will make impacts on wetlands and the North Branch of the South Fork of
Little Johns Creek less than significant.
24
