9. Geology,Soils and Seismici
a.Potential Soil Import to Site
Potential Significant Impact(J.3):
Over the life of the project, soils on the project site may be determined to be of inadequate supply
and/or quality for use as daily cover,and soil import could be required.
Finding:
Based upon the analysis in the EIR,use of alternative daily cover will make impacts of potential
soil import less than significant.
The following mitigation measure will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measure (Impact J.3):
(a)Should additional cover material be needed, alternative daily covers, approved by the
CIWMB, shall be examined and used. A demonstration project has already been
authorized.
Facts in Support of the Finding:
The potential for soil imports to the site is discussed in Section III.J of the EIR. The measure
above is designed to mitigate impacts of soil importation.
b.Potential for Seismic Shaking
Potential Significant Impact(J.4):
Seismic shaking could disturb slope stability,drainage features,linear integrity,and settlement of
the landfill,over the life of the project or after closure.
Finding:
Based upon the analysis in the EIR,compliance with state regulations will make impacts of
seismic shaking less than significant.
The following mitigation measure will mitigate these impacts to below a level of significance.
Mitigation Measure (Impact J.4):
(a) The project sponsor will comply with the requirements of the California Code of
Regulations(CCR) Title 27. The CIWMB will receive all documentation relating to slope
and foundation studies and design.
42
