The soil types of the area all.have a slow permeability rate offering susceptibility to
runoff.'
Irrigation applications need to be carefully managed to control field runoff. The frequency of
application needs careful attention to minimize plant wilting.
The irrigation process is one of 24 hours a day, so an evaluation of the nutrient water needs to be
Fperformed periodically .as the lagoon levels drop to be sure that the nutrient content does not
, change substantially during the processes. Adjust nutrient applications in relationship to the
maturity of the crops.
F.' SOLID MANURE MANAGEMENT
Manure will be handled and stored properly to prevent water pollution from the dairy. The facility is
designed to prevent manure from contacting surface water or groundwater or moving off the
property (see the Site Plan and the Irrigation Plan, attached).
T ' The manure In the corral areas well be scraped in the Spring and Fall. Removed manure well be
Fstored or composted at locations meeting minimum clay content requirements ("Manure Storage
", Area" on the "Site Map", attached) and.draining to the ponds. The manure_ in the settling ponds
will be removed from the ponds as they rotate into and out of service. The manure will be stacked
to dry on.appropriate surfaced drying pads (containing at least 10% clay) located between and
F draining to the settling ponds.
There are three options on how to dispose of the manure: utilize it agronomically on the crop
fields, sell it, or compost it and sell it. Random manure samples from the corrals will be analyzed
separately because its content is different from dried manure from the settling ponds.
