WATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Irrigation Requirements
w '
Liquid manure will be sampled prior to pumping from the retention pond.
Samples will be taken near the outlet for irrigation water and analyzed for total-
nitrogen.
{ Nutrient Monitoring
To provide base data for future comparison and determine amounts ofliquid
manure to be added to the soil to provide a balance of elements for optimal plant
Ft growth and nutrient uptake, water samples will be taken at those locations shown
on the Site Map (Appendix B).
EThe water samples will be analyzed (using A&L Laboratories' Basic Water
Package (W76) called "Lagoon Water Analysis") for Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen
(TKN), Total Phosphorus (as P205), Total Phosphorus (as K20), Nitrate Nitrogen
F (NO3-N), and for Ammonia Nitrogen (NH4-N).
The groundwater samples collected from the domestic.wells will be analyzed
(using A&L Laboratories' Basic Water Package (W3) called "Domestic
Suitability") for Purity (total and fecal coliform), Calcium, Magnesium, PH, Total
Hardness, Electrical Conductivity, Total D:.3solved Solids (calculated), and for
Nitrate.
The groundwater samples collected from the irrigation wells will be analyzed for
Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Electrical Conductivity, Sulfate, Nitrate,
pH, Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Phosphorus, Potassium, Boron, Total Dissolved
t
Solids (calculated), and for Adjusted SAR.
Water samples will be acquired within clean plastic containers provided by
Flaboratory.
Each plastic container will be labeled with the project name, sample ID, date, and
Ftime of sample collection, placed in a cooler on water ice at a temperature of 4
degrees Celsius (checked using a thermometer), for transport to a State Certified
analytical laboratory under chain of custody.
Samplin and analyses will be performed to provide baseline data regarding the
concentration of the above-mentioned chemicals at the present time. -Ir -order to
evaluate any potential impact the facility may have on water, soil, and crop and
determine amounts of liquid manure to be added to the soil to provide a balance
of elements for optimal plant growth and nutrient uptake, water sampling and
analyses will be done yearly.
