k
Soil Suitability Study----APN: 209-310-30----PA-111-1 I I ----Parcels 1 &2, 2&38 Acres Respectively
4
been devoted to only agricultural pursuits in excess of twenty(20)years. Assessors
number 109-310-30 is subject to the Williamson Act contract. Considering the long time
agricultural use of this subject property, the existing farming being conducted on the
other farm properties in the general area surrounding it, and the Williamson Act contract,
there is_nq apparent evidence that indicates the roe ha n sub'ected to either
business'or in ustrial use whit would have contributed possible contamination to the
property-I
3.0 Future Planned Property Usk: The planned development of the forty(40) acres is to
divide the subject property into two parcels. Parcel 1 is to contain 2.00 acres. Parcel 2 is
to contain 38.00 acres, all as shown on the "Parcel Map". Belle B. Soares is ninety-four
(94)years old and this lot split will allow her to remain living on the subject property and
for otherfamily members to continuing to farm the land surrounding her home. The
possibility of a future sale of the property appears unlikely in view of the Williamson Act
contract.'p
4
4.0 Soil Profile and Groundwater: The San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
Conservation Map entitled"Lines of Equal Depth To Water Wells, dated Spring 1999,
shows the groundwater tale to be approximately ten(10) feet or less below the ground
surface.
A Soil Profile Hole was excavated on Parcel 2 at the location shown on the
attached Percolation Test Hole Location Map and water was encountered at six(6) feet
below the ground surface.
The soil encountered in excavating the Soil Profile Hole was light gray clay from
0' to 5' below the ground surface and light gray clay speckled with light brown silty clay
from 5' to 6' below the ground surface.
9
The soil encountered in excavating the Percolation Test Holes was light gray clay
from 0",to 20"below the ground surface and light brown silty clay from 20"to 38"
maximum
{ below the ground surface.
F
5.0 Soil Character: The University of California publication entitled 'Soils of San
Joaquin,County , California", by Walter W. Weir, dated June 1952, refers to the soil type
on this subject property as being"Sacramento Clay"anchor"Pescadero Clay.
Sacramento Clay
This soil is found in the basins, which parallel major streams. This soil is deep
dark colored, poorly drained and derived from transported material of mixed geological
origin and deposited in bottomlands or enclosed basins. The soil contains variable
quantities of partly decayed organic material. The soil is slightly acid on the surface and
usually calcareous in the subsoil. Sacramento soils are medium to heavily textured and
have a high water holding capacity and a slight accumulation of clay in the subsoil.
Sacramento Series soils have five (5)textures ranging from loam to silty clay.
,F
r
RP11P R Rnaraa 16147 West Rathnnv Rnnd Trary CA 95'17(1 PhnnP- (71]91 RIS- RMO
