t
Proposed Actions
Granite proposes to replace the two offset rows of Almond Trees with a single row of
Evergreen Trees. This change will serve the following purposes:
1. Provide better visual screen from Interstates• Evergreens grow much taller and
thicker than do Almond trees thus providing a better visual screen for passing
motorists along I-5 and I-580.. In addition to their size, Evergreens offer a better
visual screen than Almond trees because they retain their foliage throughout the
year.
2. Provide visual screen for the life of the project: As approved in the Final EIR,
this project has an estimated life of 50 years. Evergreens will provide a visual
screen throughout the Iife of this project without having to be replaced, as would
Almond trees.
3. Provide better windbreak: Because of the Evergreen size and density they will
provide a better windbreak around the perimeter of the property. This windbreak
would add additional control of airborne particles.
I
3
