Mr. Jim Van Buren May 21,2001
San Joaquin County Community Development Dept.
Development Services Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA.95205
RE: Project SU-00-1 (Pre-application)
Mr.Jim Van Buren:
In referring back to the Staff Report,File#ZR-90-5, for the applicant Luis
Arismendi,River Oaks Joint Venture, the Project Description recommends the set
aside in the northern portion of the oak woodland of the 124.73 acre property,a 1-
acre recreation center, a 6.8-acre park and a 1.2-acre fire station/library site.
We,the present and past directors of the Lockeford Community Services
District, which has parks and recreation responsibility, strongly urge that Project
SU400-1 preapplication be contingent upon the deeding of aforementioned 9 acres in
the oak woodland to the LCSD for recreation center, park and library of which
Lockeford is in great need. The LCSD is slated to receive $270,000 of county funds
for the designing of a community center. This property, bordered by Jack Tone
Road could well serve as the appropriate site. The developer has responsibilities to
the community to mitigate the impact his subdivision will have to provide open
space for the recreational use of the community. . _
espectfully submitted,
Lcs
i
