water services for the project, pursuant to Development Title Section 9-110.3(d [1]). The
Department of Public Works will provide storm drainage services for the project.
Department of Transportation
Caltrans submitted a letter dated January 10, 2002. Public Works is reviewing those
comments and may revise its letter of January 4, 2002.
Air Pollution
In the letter dated December 27, 2001, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control
District (SJVAPCD) recommended that an Environmental Impact Report be prepared for
the project. The Community Development Department has contacted the District to
determine if the previously prepared EIR (ER-90-3) addressed its concerns. The
SJVAPCD stated in a memo dated January 15, 2002, that the air quality impacts from
this project have been identified in previous documents (EIR). The SJVAPCD also
stated that the construction phase of this project can generate emissions from the
movement of soil, use of heavy equipment, bulk materials handling, asphalt paving and
other related activities and will be subject to the regulations mentioned in the memo. In a
telephone conversation, the SJVAPCD said (1115102, 9:00 am)that on May 15, 2002,
dust regulations will become more restrictive than today's standards. Any questions
regarding air quality issues may be directed to John Cadrett with SJVAPCD (557-6400).
JJ:vb
S 0001
Attachments
C: Ernest& Irene Pestana
Baumbach & Piazza
