Navarra Site:Potable Wate4upply Well Program Page G of 7
in essentially every report on the Navarra Site that SJC has submitted to the SJCEHD,
water levels in and around the 7500 West Eleventh Street site are controlled by
agricultural irrigation practices in the Tracy area and have little or no correlation with
seasonal precipitation.
Analytical Suite
We recommend that for the revised monitoring program, the samples of water recovered
from the three potable water supply wells be analyzed for the following suite of analytes:
Analyte Method of Analysis
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8015M
(quantified as Diesel) with pre-treatment by
EPA Method 3630.
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons EPA Method 8260B
(quantified as Gasoline)
Benzene EPA Method 8260B
Toluene EPA Method 8260B
Ethyl benzene EPA Method 8260B ,f
Total Xylene Isomers EPA Method 8260B
Tertiary-butyl alcohol EPA Method 8260B
Methyl-tertiary butyl ether EPA Method 8260B
Di-isopropyl ether EPA Method 8260B
Ethyl tertiary-butyl ether EPA Method 8260B
Tertiary-amyl methyl ether EPA Method 8260B
The analytical suite specified above is the same as that used in the previously-approved
potable water monitoring program and is appropriate given the types of fuel
hydrocarbons released at the Navarra Site. It does not include additional analyses for
ethanol and methanol, which the SICEHD requested as part of the February 2005
monitoring round that, as would be expected based on the type of fuels that had been
stored in the tanks formerly located on the 7500 West Eleventh Street Site, were not
detected in any of the potable water supply wells, nor in any of the 27 groundwater-
quality monitoring wells that were monitored during that sampling event. Moreover, it
does not include EDB or 1,2 DCA, both of which had previously been demonstrated to be
