. Navarra Site:Potable Water4upply Well Program Page 7 of 7
absent from groundwater at the Navarra Site.
The lead scavengers EDB and 1,2 DCA were not included in the suite of analytes
specified by the SJCEHD at the time groundwater quality-monitoring was initiated at this
site in 2000. However, their inclusion was recommended by SJC as matter of good
professional practice sites affected by releases of gasoline (The San Joaquin Company
Inc. Memorandum from Dai Watkins to Bernie Dietz dated May 2, 2000, with copy to Ms
Lori Duncan, REHS, San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Division. May 2, 2000), and they were included in the first round of groundwater-quality
monitoring that was conducted on May 11, 2000. Neither was detected. That finding
permitted the SJCEHD, at that time, to approve elimination of analyses for 1,2 DCA and
EDB from the suite of analytes included in the groundwater-quality monitoring program.
When, in response to your request, EDB and 1,2 DCA were ;;again included in the
analytical suite used in the most recent round of groundwater monitoring that
encompassed a total of 27 groundwater-quality monitoring wells-and six potable water-
quality monitoring wells, both were, as was expected by SJC, again entirely absent.
As requested by that Agency, we have transmitted a copy of this letter to Mr. James
Barton at the Regional Water Quality Control Board - Central Valley Region (RWQCB).
If you can authorize our proposed revised program for the potable water supply wells, or
if you have any questions, please call me at (510) 336-9118.
Sincerely,
D.
