Work Plan for Extended Sitaracterization: 7500 Eleventh Street, Tracy, Page 2
SEARCH FOR ADDITIONAL"WATER SUPPLY WELLS AND WELL CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
We will extend the search for water supply wells in'the neighborhood of the 7500 West Eleventh
Street site to find any wells not already identified during the initial site characterization program.
We will also research government and private record in an effort to define the well construction
details of all wells found.
REQUIREMENT TO RECEIVE AUTHORIZATION FROM USTCF TO EXPEND ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR
EXTENDED SITE CHARACTERIZATION
As I have explained previously, on August 31, 2001, our clients, Mr. And Mrs. Carl Navarra,
received authorization from the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup to have SJC prepare the
work plan and implement an extended site characterization program based on the scope of work
outlined in the plan.-However, the USTCF requires that Mr. and Mrs. Navarra obtain bids for the
drilling, well installation and laboratory work required for the program. We prepared
specifications and bid documents for that work and the requisite minimum of three quotations for
the laboratory work have been received. In the case of bids for drilling and installation of
groundwater-quality wells, only two have been received. I am attempting to contact the USTCF
to see if they will grant a waiver of their requirement to have three bids for the latter work in light
of the fact that the bids already received are within that agency's cost guidelines. If not, we will
proceed to solicit more bids from drilling contractors. When the issue of drilling and well
installation costs have been resolved, we will prepare an estimate for the now expanded scope of
work and submit that to the USTCF with the laboratory and drilling contractor bids. If the
USTCF approves the additional expenditures, we will contact you to schedule the fieldwork for
the extended site characterization program.
In the meantime if you have any questions, or I can be of help in any way, please call me at(510)
336-1772.
Sincerely,
Dai Watkins, PhD, P.E.
President.
The San Joaquin Company Inc.
cc. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Navarra
