(TSJCI). The reports have variously included maps depicting the
extent of impacted ground water and cross sections showing the hydrogeological
framework and extent of impacted soil for the subject site and down-gradient sites.
TSJC1 has recommended:
• Destruction of monitoring wells MW-3A, MW-3B and MW-12A to protect
ground water in the deeper sand intervals;
• Destruction of monitoring well MW-8, stating that the well is not needed to
monitor the plume of impacted ground water;
• Reduction of the monitoring frequency of all monitoring wells to a semi-
annual basis;
• Remediation of free product encountered in monitoring well MW-7, located
on the site north of Eleventh Street; and
• Sampling of domestic wells in the area for impacted ground water.
EHD met with a representative of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (CVRWQCB) on 16 April 2003 and reviewed the site data and
TSJCI's recommendations. EHD also discussed these issues with TSJCI on
17 April 2003 and comments as follows:
EHD does not concur with the recommendation to destroy monitoring wells
MW-3A or MW-313 at this time. The wells provide vertical delineation of the plume
of impacted ground water in the suspected main source area. MW-3A is partially
completed in a sand interval shown to be in hydrologic continuity with the shallow
sand interval in cross section A-A'. Monitoring wells MW-12A, MW-3A and MW-3B
