Refer to ATC's Summary Report Additional Subsurface Investigation, 7675 West
Eleventh Street, Tracy, California, dated May 12, 1999, for additional information.
Based on historical data and a verbal discussion with Mr. Ron Rowe of EHD, ATC submitted a
closure report request dated June 27, 2000. EHD did not formally respond to the report but
instead requested that ATC perform another monitoring event. In a letter dated October 2, 2001,
Ms. Dot Lofstrom of the EHD requested computer modeling of the groundwater plume be
conducted. ATC evaluated contaminant migration potential of affected soil and groundwater at
the site using the EPA's BIOSCREEN (v.1.4) software program. The results of the computer
modeling indicated the petroleum impacted soil and groundwater at the site do not appear to be
an immediate and significant threat to human health or the environment. The computer
modeling results are presented in ATC's Addendum to Additional Site Evaluation and Request
for No Further Action for Fayette Manufacturing Corporation, dated November 4, 2002.
ATC prepared the Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation at Fayette Manufacturing
Corporation Site, 7675 West Eleventh Street, Tracy, California dated March 4, 2004, in response
to the EHD directive dated February 17, 2004. The letter included a summary of the EHD
review of the First Quarter 2004 Groundwater Monitoring Report dated January 27, 2004,
prepared by ATC. In response to the EHD letter, ATC prepared the February 17, 2004, Work
Plan to perform additional subsurface investigation. The Work Plan included completion of one
Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) boring to investigate the vertical extent of groundwater
contamination and three Geoprobe® soil borings between wells MW4 and MW5 to evaluate the
possible lateral migration of impacted groundwater between the monitoring wells. The Work
Plan was approved by EHD on March 11,2004.
Investigation activities associated with the March 4, 2004, Workplan for Additional Subsurface
Investigation at Fayette Manufacturing Corporation Site, 7675 West Eleventh Street, Tracy,
California were initiated on April 5, 2004 by ATC. Fisch Environmental (State C57 license no.
683865) completed soil borings GPI, GP2, and GP3 utilizing a Geoprobe® direct push rig.
Each boring was advanced to approximately 16 feet bgs to a sand interval below the first
encountered groundwater. Soil samples were collected at five-foot intervals or significant
changes in lithology using a 1-inch diameter acetate sleeve. A photo ionization detection meter
(PID) was used as a field-screening device for the detection of petroleum hydrocarbon vapors.
On April 5, 2004, groundwater samples were collected from borings GPI, GP2, and GP3 at
approximate depths of 16 feet bgs. The samples were collected by inserting Teflon tubing into
the boring and oscillating the tubing up and down. Sample containers were then labeled with
sample identification, placed on ice, and shipped under chain-of-custody to Argon Laboratories.
Page 3 (M- %TC
w:\17861\WP for Additional Subsurface Investigation
Soil Vapor Study,and Modeling ....°'""' ...
