2.2 Proposed Development
A minor subdivision is proposed to split the Site into a homesite parcel and a designated
remainder (Plate 3). No changes in land use are proposed, according to Mr. Burns.
2.3 Topography
A recent U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic map was obtained from the
San Joaquin County District Viewer. In the map, the western half of the Site is depicted
as vineyard, and the eastern half is depicted as open, agricultural land. An irrigation
canal is shown running along the southern property line of the Site. The property is
approximately 30 to 33 feet above mean sea level and is relatively flat. Surrounding
properties are shown to be vineyards, orchards, and open, agricultural land. This map
is included as Plate 4 in Appendix 1.
3.0 HISTORICAL RESEARCH
3.1 Aerial Photographs
Live Oak reviewed aerial photographs of the Site provided by the San Joaquin County
Surveyor's Office in Stockton, California. The available photographs were dated 1940,
1952, 1963, and 1975. Two additional photographs, dated October 1998 and June
2007, were obtained from the San Joaquin County District Viewer.
In the 1940 photo, the Site appears to be open, agricultural land. Two or three
structures can be seen on the adjacent parcel cut from the northeast corner of the Site.
Surrounding properties include vineyards, open land, and a wooded area. Scattered
rural residences are present along the roadways.
In the 1952 photo, no significant changes are apparent.
In the 1963 photo, it appears that the western portion of the Site has been planted with
vineyard. A new orchard can be seen to the east. No other significant changes are
apparent.
In the 1975 photo, no significant changes are apparent.
In the 1998 photo, the eastern portion of the Site has been planted with vineyard. The
northern residence on the Site can now be seen. The adjacent properties to the east
and south are now vineyards. No other significant changes are apparent.
In the 2008 photo, the southern residence on the Site can now be seen. No other
significant changes are apparent.
LOGE 1406 Page 2
