Photographs of the Site are attached to
this report as Appendix 2. The perimeter of the Site was inspected, as well as the
vicinity of the structures.
The Site is a vineyard composed of an older field (western side) and a younger field
(eastern side). Two houses are located on the eastern side of the Site; the northern of
these is a shop which has been converted into a house. A domestic water well is
located near the northern house, and an irrigation well is located near the southern
house. Two large plastic tanks were observed near the irrigation well. Two
transformers are present near the southeast corner of the Site. A brush pile is located
near the center of the northern property line. An irrigation canal runs along Davis Road
on the eastern property line, and a concrete canal runs along the southern property line.
The adjacent properties are vineyards and rural residences; Jessie's Grove Winery is
located to the immediate south.
5.0 INTERVIEWS
5.1 Interview with Property Owner
Greg Burns was interviewed by telephone on April 15, 2014. He indicated that Wanda
Bechtold, his mother, is the owner of the Site. He stated that the Site has been in his
family since the 1880s. The Site has been used in the past as vineyard and pasture
land, he said. He indicated that the northern house was originally constructed as a
shop in 1976, then later converted into a house. The southern house was built around
2001. Each house has a septic system, he noted, and a domestic well and an irrigation
well are also located on the Site.
Mr. Burns stated that two plastic tanks for adding fertilizer to irrigation water are located
near the irrigation well. He was not aware of any underground or above-ground fuel
tanks, chemical mixing or storage, or other environmental issues on the Site.
LOGE 1406 Page 3
