The silage storage pad is
sloped to direct with in concrete channels all effluent drainage released during fermentation to drains that
flow to the settling ponds.
• Domestic septic systems:
+ There are three septic systems at the facility. There locations are:
• Main milking parlor for employees during the milking operation.
• Veterinarian office
• Equipment repair shop
* Farm manager residence
The human waste septic systems are considered to be insignificant.
i
*Corral runoff.
Corral runoff is directed to drains that are strategically located to collect all site runoff and conduct it to
the settling ponds.
•Agricultural liquid waste storage ponds:
There are three nutrient laden water storage areas. One being the two settling pond areas;second is the
{ flush lagoon;third is the irrigation water storage lagoon. Reference the site plan for locations.
The settling pond effluent will not end up in the liquid calculations for it remains as moisture in the solids
that are collected at the settling ponds.
There were three geological soil borings taken at the site for the expressed purpose of exploring the sites
of each prospective water storage basin.Reference the Soil Prof le statement located at page 24 and 25 of
this report for details of the soil analysis and conclusions of the soil study resulting from the geological
soil borings.
These areas will have clay will meet the requirement by State Water Quality Control Board of a minimum
of 10%clay content at the liner of a liquid storage lagoon.
•Agricultural solids storage areas:
There are two classifications of surface manure storage areas, the composting area and the cattle corrals.
These areas will be graded with slopes to cause runoff to flow to drains that conduct it to the settling
ponds. These areas will be evaluated upon completion of the grading. The evaluation will consist of
random soil sampling that will be analyzed for clay content. These results will be required to meet the
minimum requirement to contain a minimum 10%clay.
m Western Design/David Avila 1999
1
18 I
