Past Uses of the Site
Based on information reviewed for the Surface & Subsurface Contamination Report
(Live Oak, 2017), the Site has been used for agriculture since 1937 or earlier. The
house was placed on the Site in 1989. The barn and garage are over 100 years old.
Existing and Proposed Sec Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site to serve the house.
Proposed Septic System
No new construction is planned.
On-Site Septic Permit History
Live Oak searched the septic system permits on file at the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for the Site address. One permit, dated April 1988,
was identified. The permit was for a new septic system installation to serve a mobile
home. The system included a 1,600-gallon septic tank, two 85-foot leach lines, and two
36-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits. Two wells are also depicted on the
• permit, which has been included in Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the existing septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic
systems located within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Aerial
imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photograph was
assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that 33 or more
septic systems per square mile are present in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of vineyards and orchards, with rural residences along the
roadways. A nursery is adjacent to the west of the Site, and the Robert Mondavi
winery is approximately one-third of a mile southwest.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, it appears that most septic systems in the
area utilize leach lines with seepage pits or leach lines with sumps; one permit indicated
a system with only leach lines. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this
report.
•
LOGE 1721 Page 2
