File No. 20-3564-01 KLEINFELDER
March 26, 1992
Reference is made to Plate I of this report which shows the
location of the Pedro property. The majority of the site
area consists of agricultural and pasture land with
scattered residences.
On March 3 , 1992 , a representative of our firm visited
three residences located on Dove Road. The purpose of the
visits was to obtain information on septic system use and
to inquire about any problems known to exist with this
method of sewage disposal. Two of the residents questioned
reported having no problems with the performance of their
septic systems and indicated that their private wells
produced "good" quality water. No one was home at the
third residence.
ITEM C-2 •
"The suitability of the soil for development utilizing septic
systems; "
On March 5, 1992 , a representative of our firm drilled and
set-up one 3-foot deep percolation test hole on the
proposed 4-acre parcel and one on the proposed 16-acre
parcel. The test holes were drilled with hand drilling
equipment using a 6-inch diameter, continuous-flight auger.
Perforated PVC pipe was inserted into the test holes to
prevent disturbance when adding water. The test holes were
filled with relatively clean water and left to soak
overnight.
On March 6, 1992, our representative returned to the site
to perform the percolation tests. As per San Joaquin
County guidelines, the tests were performed for a period of
4 hours. The last 30 minutes of each test were used to
calculate the percolation rates. In order to use standard
leach lines, the County requires a percolation rate of 60
minutes per inch, or faster, at the 3-foot depth. Based on
this criteria, failing tests were obtained for both of the
3-foot deep tests.
On March 19, 1992 , representatives of our firm returned to
the site and drilled and set-up one approximate 14-foot
deep and one approximate 8- to 10-foot deep test hole on
each of the two parcels. These test holes were drilled
using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 6-inch
diameter, continuous-flight augers The test holes were
cased and presoaked as per County guidelines. On March 20,
1992, our representative returned to the site and performed
the percolation tests. In order to use sump pits, the
County requires a soil strata with a percolation rate of 30
Copyright 1992 Kleinfetder, Inc. Page 2 of 4
