• CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In summary, the soil conditions in the percolation test locations appear to be suitable for
use with on-site septic systems. Satisfactory soil percolation rates of 7.6 min/in (Parcel
1), 5.4 min/in (Parcel 2), 5.1 min/in (Parcel 3), 5.0 min/in (Parcel 4), 9.2 min/in (Parcel
5), 6.9 min/in (Parcel 6), 6.8 min/in (Parcel 7), 6.4 min/in (Parcel 8), and 4.0 min/in
(Parcel 9) were observed in the test locations.
Per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department policy, those parcels with a
percolation rate of greater than 5 to 30 min/in (Parcel 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8) will be
required to maintain eight feet separation from the bottom of the dispersal system to
ground water. Those parcels with a percolation rate of less than or equal to 5 min/in
(Parcels 4 and 9) will be required to maintain 20 feet separation from the bottom of the
dispersal system to ground water (personal communication, August 16, 2018). As a
result, the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department may require the use
of mounded septic systems or further investigation into ground-water depth for Parcels
P4 and P9.
The depth of ground water based on recent aquifer levels is estimated to range between
13 to 55 feet below ground surface, depending on the season and location on the Site.
The ground-water flow is to the east or north at a rate of approximately seven to 18 feet
• per mile, depending on the season.
A water sample was collected from the domestic water well on August 6, 2018. Nitrate
was detected in the sample at a concentration of 5.2 mg/L-N, well below the MCL of 10
mg/L-N. DBCP was not detected in the sample.
We believe the Site suitable for the use of septic systems utilizing leach lines, leach
lines and sumps, or filter beds. No new construction is anticipated.
•
LOGE 1811 Page 10
