File No. 20-3445-0y KLEI , EELDER
March 4 , 1991
by a representative of our firm who assisted in obtaining
relatively undisturbed soil samples for visual examination,
classification, and laboratory testing. Soil samples were obtained
by driving a 2-inch inside diameter sampler into the soil using a
140-pound hammer falling approximately 30 inches. The number of
blows required to advance the sampler is presented on the Locs of
Borings, Plates A-3 and A-4 , at the corresponding sample locations.
SOIL CONDITIONS
The surface and near-surface soil conditions encountered at the
locations explored consisted of medium dense silty sand that
extended to depths of approximately 7 to 10 feet below the ground
surface. Below these surface soils, silty and clean sands were
encountered to the maximum depths explored.
No free groundwater was encountered in either of our test borings.
It is possible however, that groundwater conditions at the site
could change at some time in the future due to variations in
rainfall , groundwater withdrawal , construction activities or other
factors not apparent at the time our test borings were drilled.
The above is a general summary of the soil and groundwater
conditions encountered in the test borings drilled for this
investigation. More detailed descriptions of the soils encountered
in each boring are noted on the Logs of Borings. All soils have
been classified according to the Unified Soil Classification
System, described on Plate A-2 .
LABORATORY TESTS
Laboratory tests were performed on selected samples obtained from
the exploratory borings in order to evaluate the moisture, density,
strength and gradation characteristics of the soils encountered.
Copyright 1991 Kleinfelder, Inc.
3
