Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment
Neighborhood G
Page 9
4.4 HISTORICAL USE INFORMATION ON THE SITE
City directories and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps are not available for the Site.Historical use information
on the Site was researched using aerial photographs and historical USGS topographic maps received from
EDRO.
Aerial photographs from 1957, 1982, and 1994 were reviewed. The Site is made up of agricultural fields
in the 1957 photo. There are no structures on the property, but a canal intersects the Site from the
northwest to the southeast. A creek intersects the southeastern corner of the Site. There are no noticeable
differences in the 1982 and 1994 photos.
Historical topographic maps from 1916, 1952, 1968, and 1978 were reviewed. The Site appears to be
agricultural land in the 1916 map. The creek is shown passing through the southeastern corner of the Site
from the southwest to the northeast. A building is shown along the northwestern side of the creek. On the
1952 map, a canal appears to pass immediately through the Site. A private road running west from
Patterson Pass Road also appears in the 1952 map. The road reaches from the easternmost section of the
Site to the structure along the northwestern side of the creek. Another structure along the creek, northeast
of the previously mentioned structure, is shown along the new road. A dry pond is apparent in the 1968
map to the northeast of the Site. There are no further changes in the 1968 map. The dry pond from the
1968 map is shown as an intermittent pond in the 1978 map. Additionally, the road running from
Patterson Pass Road does not appear to cross the creek, and therefore does not enter the Site property.
4.5 HISTORICAL USE INFORMATION ON ADJOINING PROPERTIES
City directories and Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps are not available for the adjoining properties. Historical
` use information on the adjoining properties was researched using aerial photographs and historical USGS
topographic maps received from EDRO.
Aerial photographs from 1957, 1982, and 1994 were reviewed. The adjoining properties are used for
agricultural purposes in the 1957 photo. The canal is present on the adjoining properties as well. There is
a large farm complex on the southeastern side of the creek. Another farm complex is located to the
northeast of the Site along Byron Road. A faun complex northwest of the Site is apparent in the 1982
photo. There are no other changes noted in the 1982 photo. The farm complex northwest of the Site does
not appear in the 1994 photo. There are no further changes in the 1994 photo.
Historical topographic maps from 1916, 1952, 1968, and 1978 were reviewed. The adjoining properties
appear to be agricultural land in the 1916 map. Structures are shown illustrated along the southwestem
side of Byron Road, west of the Site along a road running north to south, and east of the Site across the
creek. Additional structures across the creek, to the east of the Site, appear in the 1952 map. A small
orchard appears to be associated with these structures. An additional structure appears northeast of the
Site and further south of the other structure in the 1968 map. Additional and larger structures are
illustrated to the east of the Site, across the creek. There are no further changes to the adjoining properties
in the 1978 map.
5.0 SITE RECONNAISSANCE
5.1 METHODOLOGY AND LIMITING CONDITIONS
A driving reconnaissance of the surrounding area and a walking and driving reconnaissance of the Site
were performed in accordance with the ASTM practice. A limiting condition to the Site reconnaissance
' existed due to the agricultural crops that were still in the fields.
A
i1 CONDOR
