L hk KLCINFELDER
L- V 2. Because of the historical agricultural use of the site, environmentally persistent pesticides
may be present. Due to the proposed residential use of the site, shallow soil sampling for
organochlorine pesticides can be conducted if desired by the client.
3. According to aerial photographs and an interview conducted with Mr. Jim Shannon (property
owner), the abandoned brick building is believed to have been built previous to the 1980's. It
is possible that this structure could contain asbestos containing building materials and/or lead
based paints. Kleinfelder conducted an asbestos survey of the stricture on December 3,
La 2003. Asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were not detected as part of the survey. The
survey report is included as a separate attachment to this report.
4. The northern, eastern, and western portions of the site are located within oak woodland.
According to a reap provided by the client, several elderberry bushes (,Sambucus spp.) are
noted within these areas. Elderberry bushes provide nesting habitat for.the Valley Elderberry
,,. Longhorn Beetle (Desmocerus californicus dimorphus), which is federally listed as a
threatened species. Kleinfelder understands that a botanical survey has been conducted for
the site.
5. A wooden debris pile (southeastern portion of the site) and two piles of metal debris
(southeastern and western portions of the site) were noted onsite. No staining, leakage,
'- stressed vegetation, or odors were associated with the piles. However, Kleinfelder
recommends that the piles be removed and disposed of or recycled in accordance with local,
state, and federal regulations.
6. A pit, approximately four feet in diameter and 3-4 feet deep, was noted in the southeastern
portion of the site. No staining, leakage, stressed vegetation, or odors were associated with
the pit. Although the pit is not currently expected to have an adverse impact on the site, the
client may wish to conduct soil sampling for possible contaminants (i.e. organochlorine
pesticides, metals, and/or petroleum products).
7. The Kathryn Bull Property, located approximately 100 feet west of the site, appears on the
4, HIST UST database due to two underground storage tanks. The tanks are used to store
unleaded gasoline and regular gasoline and according to the EDR report were installed in
1956. There are no reported incidents or violations associated with the tanks. Based on this
., data, that the subject site appears to be upgradient to this property, and with an estimated
depth to groundwater of greater than 100 feet, this property is not expected to impact the
subject site. However, in the event that a release were to take place, the responsible party
- (Le. the Kathryn Bull Property) would typically be responsible for cleanup.
8. A pole-mounted and pad-mounted transformer are located off site adjacent to the southwest
corner of the property. No evidence of staining or leakage on the transformers or ground
surface below was noted.
&.
37417.POI /ST03R1777 Page 23 of 24
©2003 Kleinfeider,Inc.
