Describe the facility, the items that will be available for purchase, the anticipated number
of customers, and days of operation.
2. Describe the products that will be manufactured and the waste materials associated with
each product. Describe how off-specification, spoiled, or contaminated materials will be
disposed.
3. Describe cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemicals that will be used in sanitation
activities for the food processing. $" -
in cooling
water and
water domestic and industrial including g )
4. Describe all sources of waste { g
estimate the flow rates. Provide estimates of wastewater quality based on samples of
similar operations or published data. Provide a chemical characterization of the
wastewater and cooling water quality, including biochemical oxygen demand, total
suspended solids, total dissolved solids, nitrogenous compounds, and volatile organic
chemicals.
5. Provide loading rate calculations for the process wastewater septic tank and describe how
the treatment is adequate to protect groundwater quality from degradation. Because the
facility is proposing to discharge chocolate manufacturing wastewater to the septic tank,
additional treatment will be required. If appropriate, provide a description of the revised
pretreatment system and septic tank/leach line/seepage pit construction and an explanation
of how the wastewater disposal is protective of groundwater quality.
b. Describe procedures that will be implemented to prevent the discharge of fats/oils/grease
to the leachfield. Describe how odors arising from an overloaded septic tank or leachfield
will be prevented.
?. Describe how cooling water will be disposed of. 'If surface impoundments will be used to
store wastewater, provide diagrams and a description of the planned impoundment,
location, size and depth, construction materials, inlet and outlets, depth to groundwater
below the bottom of the pond, and existing or planned groundwater monitoring wells.
1
8. Allowing for two feet of freeboard, what is the approximate storage capacity of the
wastewater pond(s)? Provide a water balance that evaluates the containment structures
ability to provide sufficient capacity on a month-by-month basis. Include monthly
evaporation, precipitation, and irrigation rates as well as monthly discharge volumes.
Rainfall shall be based on the 100-year return period total annual precipitation.
9. Describe management provisions that will be implemented to prevent the occurrence of
flies, mosquitoes, odor nuisances, and problems such as pond overflows (maintenance
plans, standby pumps or generators, and contingency plans, etc.).
'tSan_J,.;,.um N.aislsr,a Mnnvn7lS'anl,inuiinch.nuhN,eaS:hemx,e'_Y%I:ivux RL 00C
