• The project will be significantly detrimental to the neighbors
due to noise and traffic.
• The use is not compatible to the existing land uses. This is
an agricultural-industrial use as opposed to a traditional
agricultural business. . There is industrial land available to
accommodate such an operation.
• The present use on the property is appropriate; it is used by
local farmers..
Patricia Pereira (Campo Seco) , speaking for Attorney Alexander
Henson (Carmel Valley) , who represents Gino and Betty DeMartini
(4496 Jack Tone Road) , made the following points:
• There is objection to the fact that the project is proposed by
two Site Approval applications rather than only one. It was
felt that enforcement of conditions would be difficult with
the two applications.
s There are concerns over water, waste disposal, noise, traffic,
and the use of chemicals. It was felt that there'were several
significant environmental impacts that were not adequately
studied.
John Rossi (11999 E. Sun Rd. ) said he owns a cherry orchard across
from .the plant. He. felt that Findings .14 and 15 could not be met.
He felt that. the " traffic report prepared by omni'` ' Means was
inaccurate.
Joe Ghio (11222 E. Fairchild Rd.) expressed concern over traffic
safety.
Lino Risso (11855_ E. Fairchild Rd. ) spoke about traffic on
Fairchild Road.
Gerald Nola (12525 E. Fairchild Rd. ) , questioned the validity of
the traffic impact report. He submitted a publication, gestern
Fruitgrower, with an article on "Sierra Hills" and the plan to
include other fruit in the cold storage operation. me said this
use should be located in an industrial area. He suggested that the
apple orchard on the corner would be an area of further expansion.
Louis Casale '(19077'-Lambert Way, Lockeford) said that he and his
brother own property to the north of the facility. He said the
County Agricultural Inspector will require them to restrict their
spraying operations in order to create a buffer. He said he would
have to forfeit 5 acres of apples (4 rows of trees) . He said the
project is too big for the area.
Jerry Senderov (12797 E. Fairchild Rd. ) said his property is 500
PO MINUTES -5- 4/15/93
