NO3 as N denotes Nitrate as Nitrogen. EC denotes Electrical Conductivitiy.
Na denotes Sodium. Cl denotes Chloride.
32. As indicated in the table above, the average TDS and nitrate as nitrogen concentrations in Well
MW-3 (the only well that is at least partially downgradient of the primary wastewater application
area) are higher than that of the groundwater below the area that is cross gradient of the
application area or apparently upgradient of the application area. This data indicates that
groundwater below the LTU may be impacted by the discharge of wastewater from the facility. It
is noted that none of the wells can be considered upgradient of wastewater application areas since
wastewater has been applied to Vineyards No. 1, 2, and 3 and the close proximity of Well MW-2
to the LTU may have resulted in degradation of groundwater quality. Therefore, the Discharger
must install additional groundwater wells to allow evaluation of background and downgradient
groundwater quality for all the LTUs.
SITE SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
33. Domestic wastes generated at the winery are discharged to a series of two 600-gallon septic tanks
that discharge to a leachfield. There is no tasting room, so the septic system primarily serves
winery employees. The peak daily flow to the active septic system is estimated to be 600 gallons
per day. Oversight of the domestic wastewater system is performed by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department, which will continue to oversee the domestic wastewater
system.
34. Surrounding land uses are agricultural and residential. The topography of the surrounding area is
relatively flat.
35. Shallow soils are described in the monitoring well boring logs as sand, sandy silt, and clay to an
investigated depth of approximately 94 feet bgs. Near surface soils are described in the Soil
Survey San Joaquin County, California report prepared by the Soil Conservation Service. Soil
properties in the LTUs vary widely depending on the soil type. The Soil Survey describes surface
soils as Tokay fine sandy loam with moderately rapid percolation (2.0-6.0 in/hr), high water
VFihslam C kWDKa
