The inspection was conducted prior to
requesting a Report of Waste Discharge which will be transmitted in separate correspondence. Enclosed
for your records are copies of the inspection report and photographs. The following observations were
noted:
- Flow rates for the winery are not accurately metered and will have to be estimated for the RWD.
The winery is expanding which will result in a higher wastewater flow rate.
- Wastewater is screened but otherwise not treated prior to discharge to the land application areas.
Wastewater pH is not adjusted prior to discharge.
- The distillery has not operated for at least five years and is not anticipated to operate in the near
future.
- A regenerative ion exchange water softener is used to treat the boiler feed water. The regeneration
water is discharged to the wastewater system.
As requested in our meeting, I have included a copy of the recently adopted Waste Discharge
Requirements for East Side Winery and information on stormwater permit application. Stormwater
forms are available at the web page http://Wu w.swrcb.ca.Qov/rwgcb5/files.html#StorniWaterPermits. To
discuss stormwater issues, please call Phillip Isorena at(916) 255-3081.
